Hot upstairs, cold downstairs
Zoning, damper, and duct balance work — plus static pressure measurement — before anyone talks about new equipment.

Capacitors, contactors, and condenser fan motors on 2010s builds, usually a same-visit repair.
Rooms with three exterior surfaces that the main system was never sized for. Often the ideal mini-split zone.
Failed zone dampers and control boards that make one floor unusable while the equipment itself is fine.
Fall furnace and heat pump inspections with combustion and CO testing after eight idle months.
Spring cooling and fall heating visits with documented readings and priority dispatch in July.
Much of Henderson's housing stock was built from the late 1990s onward, which means two things for HVAC. First, a large share of the equipment installed with those homes has now reached or passed its practical life in this climate, so we see a steady stream of compressor, motor, and coil failures on systems that are 12 to 20 years old. Second, the layouts are dominated by two-story floor plans, and builder duct design routinely under-serves the second floor.
That second point produces the single most common Henderson call: upstairs is unbearable while downstairs is fine. Owners often assume the system is undersized and ask for more tonnage, which usually makes things worse — a larger system short-cycles, never runs long enough to move air through the upstairs branches, and the imbalance gets worse rather than better. What actually helps is measuring static pressure, correcting undersized returns, adjusting or repairing dampers, and in some cases adding a dedicated mini-split for a bonus room over the garage, which has three exterior surfaces and is effectively a separate building thermally.
The third pattern is zoned system electronics. Zoning is common in Henderson two-stories, and zone boards and dampers fail on their own schedule. When a damper motor dies closed, an entire floor loses airflow while the condenser and furnace test perfectly — a scenario in which a tech who only checks the equipment finds nothing wrong and leaves.
Same-day diagnostics, an after-hours line for genuine emergencies, and a flat price quoted before the work starts. Our trucks stock the parts that commonly fail here, so most visits end with the system running. Repairs carry a one-year labor warranty on top of the manufacturer's part coverage.
If a system is old enough that replacement is a real question, you get the arithmetic rather than a pitch: equipment age, refrigerant type, this repair's cost, expected remaining life, and two or three installed replacement options with honest payback math. Load calculations are part of any replacement quote — sizing off square footage is how the hot-upstairs problem gets baked in for another fifteen years.
