How to compare installation quotes
The cheapest number on paper is often the one missing the most. Before comparing prices, line up the scope: is there a load calculation, a new or flushed line set, a permit, duct sealing at the plenum, a new thermostat, and haul-away? If one quote leaves those out, it isn't really cheaper.
Ask for the equipment model numbers, the SEER2 rating, the warranty terms on both parts and labor, and who registers the warranty. A legitimate contractor will put all of it in writing without hesitation.
Installation quality matters more in the desert

- A complete residential system installed in the valley usually lands between roughly $6,000 and $14,000. The installation labor, permit, refrigerant, line set, pad and haul-away are part of that number — we quote it all in writing up front so there are no surprise fitting charges afterward.
- What's included in the installation (fitting) charge?
- Removing and disposing of the old equipment, setting the new condenser and coil or air handler, new or flushed refrigerant lines, electrical connection and disconnect, condensate drain, thermostat hookup, permit and inspection, and a commissioning check of charge and airflow before we leave.
- Can I buy my own unit and just pay for installation?
- We generally don't install customer-supplied equipment, because we can't warranty the unit or verify it was stored and matched correctly. Quoting the equipment and installation together also usually ends up cheaper once warranties are counted.
- Why do installation quotes vary so much between companies?
- Mostly because of what is and isn't included. Some low quotes skip the load calculation, reuse old line sets, leave out permits, or don't seal duct connections. Ask every contractor for an itemized written scope so you can compare like with like.
- How long does an AC installation take?
- A straightforward changeout is typically one day. New line set routing, duct changes, a roof-mount or an electrical upgrade can add a second day — we tell you which applies before you commit.
