Not cooling at all
Capacitor, contactor, or condenser fan motor failure — the most common single-visit repair we do in July and August.
When cooling fails in a 115° Las Vegas summer, an appointment next week is not a repair. Pride Mechanical is a veteran-owned crew doing same-day diagnostics with flat, upfront pricing and a one-year labor warranty on every fix.
Capacitor, contactor, or condenser fan motor failure — the most common single-visit repair we do in July and August.
Restricted return air, a dirty or frozen evaporator coil, a failing blower motor, or duct leakage dumping cold air into the attic.
Leak located and repaired, then charged to the manufacturer's spec. We do not top off a leaking system and call it a day.
Oversized equipment, a failing thermostat, low charge, or a dirty condenser coil making the unit trip on high pressure.
Tripped breakers, burnt disconnects, failed control boards, and low-voltage wiring damaged by heat or rodents.
Clogged condensate lines, overflowing pans, and float switch faults that shut the system down before ceiling damage happens.
Air conditioners here are asked to do something no manufacturer brochure assumes: hold a 75° house against 110°+ outdoor air, for weeks at a time, with a condenser sitting in full sun on a rock-covered lot. Compressors run near their design limit for months, capacitors bake, and the temperature split you would expect in a mild climate simply is not achievable when the unit is already fighting the ambient.
That has practical consequences for how a repair should be diagnosed. A tech who checks the charge on a 112° afternoon without accounting for conditions will either declare the system low and add refrigerant it does not need, or miss a genuine restriction. We measure superheat and subcooling, check static pressure, and inspect the coils and the electrical before recommending anything — because guessing on a Las Vegas system costs you a second visit.
Dust and monsoon debris are the other local factor. Fine desert dust bonds to condenser fins and cuts heat rejection long before the coil looks dirty to the eye, and it loads return filters far faster than the 90-day sticker on the filter suggests. A large share of the 'my AC is dying' calls we take in August are systems that are starved for airflow, not systems that need replacing.
You call, you get a real person, and you get a realistic arrival window. The tech inspects the whole system rather than only the symptom — refrigerant circuit, electrical components, coils, blower, condensate path, and thermostat — because the part that failed is often a consequence of something else. Then you get shown what is wrong, in plain language, with the flat price to fix it before any work begins.
Most repairs are completed on the first visit. Our trucks stock the parts that actually fail here: capacitors, contactors, fan motors, float switches, thermostats, and common control boards. When a part has to be ordered, we tell you the timeline honestly and, where we can, get the system limping so the house is livable in the meantime.
Every repair carries a one-year labor warranty on top of the part's own coverage. If the same problem comes back inside that window, we return at no charge. That warranty is also why we will tell you when a repair is not worth doing — putting a compressor into a seventeen-year-old unit is not something we want to warranty, and it is not something you should want to pay for.
When a system is old enough that the question is legitimate, we give you the arithmetic: the age and refrigerant type of the equipment, the cost of this repair, the realistic remaining life, and what a properly sized replacement would cost and save on your summer bills. Then you decide. If the honest answer is that this repair buys you three more seasons, that is what we will tell you — we would rather do the $400 repair and earn the eventual $9,000 install than pressure you today.
If the system is sound, the cheapest thing you can do is keep it that way. Our maintenance plan covers two visits a year — a spring cooling tune-up with a coil clean and an electrical check, and a fall heating check — and plan members skip the line during heat waves, which in July is worth more than the discount.
